Several ministries have played a meaningful role in shaping my faith, healing, and purpose, and I am honored to share them with you. LEAP Global Missions, Healing the Children, and Casa Guatemala each serve in powerful and unique ways—offering hope, healing, and tangible care to those in need. There are many ways to get involved, whether through prayer, volunteering, financial support, or simply sharing their missions with others. When you partner with these ministries, you become part of the life-changing work God is doing around the world, just as others once did for me.

My journey with LEAP Global Missions and Dr. Craig Hobar has been life-changing. Dr. Hobar and his incredible team were the hands and feet of Jesus in my life—performing many of the surgeries that gave me a new smile and a chance at a full life. Their compassion and dedication have continued to inspire me to share hope with others who carry physical or emotional scars. If you’d like to learn more about the amazing work they do or how you can get involved in bringing healing and restoration to children around the world, visit LEAP Missions to see how you can make a difference.

Since 1991, LEAP Global Missions has focused on providing specialized surgical services to those in need around the world. Our areas of service include: Mission Program, Mary Lamon Memorial Fund, Cheryl Lamon Memorial Fund, and Mary’s Gift.

Our work helps those who have no other options. By giving of our time and expertise, loving unconditionally, and humbly serving humanity, we demonstrate our faith through actions. We strive to always act in a manner that mirrors our strong beliefs.

Those we serve receive the highest level of care possible, regardless of religious affiliation or cultural differences. Volunteers with various backgrounds are welcomed and supported. We bring this inclusiveness into our global partnerships as well.

Healing the Children holds a sacred place in my story. This is the ministry I write about in Beautifully Scarred—the organization God used to bring me from Guatemala to Spokane, Washington, forever changing the course of my life. Through their obedience, compassion, and willingness to say yes, Healing the Children became the hands and feet of Jesus to me, offering not only medical care, but hope, safety, and a future.

Healing the Children continues to serve children around the world with that same heart—stepping into hard places, meeting urgent needs, and trusting God to do what only He can do. Their mission is a powerful reminder that when we answer God’s call to love boldly and serve faithfully, lives are transformed. I am living proof of the eternal impact one ministry, one yes, and one act of compassion can have.

Casa Guatemala is more than a children’s village—it is a place where God’s heart for the vulnerable was made real in my own life. From the beginning, Casa Guatemala has offered a safe, loving, and nurturing home for children abandoned, abused, malnourished, or living in extreme poverty in the remote region of Rio Dulce, providing education, nutrition, medical care, and a family-like community that would otherwise be out of reach for so many.

This was the ministry that welcomed me, kept me alive, and connected me with Healing the Children, setting in motion the steps God had for my life. Through their obedience, compassion, and faithful service, Casa Guatemala reflects the character of Christ in action—transforming hearts, empowering children with hope and opportunity, and investing in futures far beyond what any of us could imagine on our own.

Their mission continues today through volunteers, teachers, caregivers, and supporters who join together to ensure every child is known, loved, and equipped to thrive.
